I know.

Not with the portals, as far as I know.
But it feels like this is something that's been slowly building. We had issues with 'rifts' last summer, like portals but they would appear at random and let loose beasts from other worlds that some of us recognized. And a year before that we'd been contacted by gods called the Heralds. They left gifts in our domains, those items have been resurfacing.

It was like that in my world, for as long as I could remember.
